I'm really intrigued to see how this continues. I can imagine Loi will undergo training to become an airbender if he isn't naturally one already and I feel I should watch the original series or movie in case I'm missing something I should know but this feels like a standalone story anyway at the moment!
If you want to check out the series, you should directly see the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Please don't ever watch the movie called The Last Airbender, it's horrible!
As for bending, that's normally a talent you have to be born with, and the element that you bend correlates with your nation. In the show, airbenders were all dead except for Aang, and we didn't know how they would multiply again other than through Aang and his children. They later made a second show called The Legend of Korra and answered this problem there but I didn't really like what they came up with. I'll have to find my own! Will Sena be a part of that answer? I think we have a very long way ahead to find that out XD
