Trygaeus, in the latter half of Peace, encounters an oracle who decries “peace without victory”. He ends up giving this oracle a sound and thorough ass-whupping. I thought that it was curious that Aristophanes would include such a display of slapstick in a work that extolled the virtues of nonviolence. So, I addressed my feelings on this page.
