Souls are eel-like in this universe. I want to make them physically distinct from ghosts, which are vaguely human shaped.

Oh and “Acting the maggot” means to act foolishly. Blondie's an Irish lass, so adding some slang and idioms here and there seems like the best way to communicate that without unnecessary exposition, which I hate. Speaking of exposition…
