Fauvism

Fauvism, which translates to “The Wild Beast” was one of the major movements in the early 20th century. Though lasting a mere three years, a great number of Fauve works and arts came into the public's eye including Henri Matisse, who is often considered the leader of the movement. Fauve art strives to use purely color in order to express its subject rather than the traditional painting qualities of the old master.
