By Barna da Siena (?)
Circa. 1350-70
Gothic art

The artist who painted this work is known as Barna da Siena. It has been rumored that the man might, not to have existed at all. Legend has it, that Siena was a student of the artist Simone Martini, one of the most famous artists of the 12th century. The only other information that exists of Siena is that he was killed in a fall. Many consider Martini to be the real painter of this work however, this can also be debated as Martini's figures tended to be more proportional.
