Calvary (After Veronese)
By Berthe Morisot (1841-1895)
Circa 1856
Impressionism

Unlike most of Morisot's work, this painting is made up of very earthy tones, the opposite of most of her work which features light paints and bright blues and greens. In addition, this is one of the few paintings she ever did to feature the Crucifixion, a subject rarely done by women up to this point in history.
