0081. Presentation of Mary
CornTown on March 27, 2010
Presentation of Mary
By Master of the life of the virgin (1463-1490)
Circa. Late 15th century
Early Renaissance
The master of the life of the virgin was a pseudo name used by an unknown artist of the 15 century, not to be confused with the artist “The master of the death of the virgin”. Some sorces believe that his real name was Johann van Duyren. He is most famous for a series of 8 paintings showing the life of the Virgin (This is also where his name came from). This is the third painting in the series.
His art is heavily influenced by Rodger Van der Weyden. Interested in Weyden? Tune in for tomorrow's comic.
