Hunted - iss01 p01

This is the first page from Hunted, our take on the vampire genre. The gorgeous artwork here is by UK artist Kyriacos Kyprianou. For some reason, the style reminds me of East European animation of the 1950s and 1960s and perfectly captures the atmosphere I wanted for this scene. You can see more of Hunted at DD at these links:

Midge: Thanks. No, we probably won't be putting Hunted on DD. Progress is very slow and, unfortunately, we don't have enough of a buffer to be able to stick to a regular update schedule for any length of time. JNP: Thanks!

Thanks, Abt! I know what you mean about vampires. Hunted started life as a suggestion from Harsho. He was a big Mignola fan and said he'd like to do "something with vampires and demons". At the time, the idea had no appeal for me whatsoever. I just couldn't think of a new take on the vampire genre and - as you can hopefully guess from the way I approached super heroes in Shades - I really only like working in a well-established genre if I think I can do something different with it. A few weeks after I'd said no, I came up with (what I think is) an original slant but, by then, Harsho was unfortunately too busy to work on it with me. *sigh!* It took me two years to find Kyri and get this project under way. (So, please give it a try!)

I love the artwork! But I have to say, if there's anyone who could make me excited about vampires, it's you (not a big fan of vampires here, and neither of zombies, ninjas, or pirates!) :-D

Heh heh - it's a nice twist, isn't it? I didn't want to do a vampire story unless I could find an original take on the genre. And then that one hit me ...!

Ok, so I was surprised at page 7.
