BGH#477 Don't Blink
theRedDeath on Nov. 8, 2021
So much to talk about!
First off, just to stop you pervs out there, in the final panel Paradox is doing the “Put your knees on their arms to keep them from moving” trick. (only in this case it's just Dan's one good-arm) He's pinning Dan down.
So anyway, a few notes:
-Supreme Justice is finally named. Who is he? Well who betrayed the Camaraderie of Heroes? Someone maybe Alpha Female mentioned? Hmmmm? One day I'll get around to telling the FULL story there, in another comic probably.
-The Lemniscate Society is mentioned. They're a secret society of Super-villains, the “Illuminati” of the BGH world. The name is a reference to the Infinity Symbol (and was a rejected name suggestion I came up with for The Crossoverlord team. I liked the name, so their loss is my gain.
Who are they? Well here are some hints: Two of them have appeared in BGH before, One of them has NOT been seen before but is the relative of characters seen in BGH, one is new, and one is a classic literary character.
(The first person to correctly guess the literary character, can have a free drawing from me. If they want.)
-The monsters and demons of Mexico is a vague reference to
Pilli Adventures. Since Algeya and I have had a few crossovers already, our two comics are LOOSELY in-continuity with each other. (I stress “loosely”, because the BGH universe has a world-spanning apocalyptic future, and I don't want to hold Algeya to that.) In the big mid-panel, some of those monsters are inspired by Algeya's designs, but they were all drawn from memory and not based on anything specifically.
-This page is very intentionally a mirror to BGH#210 where Emperor Dan explains to Evan why he took over. This whole confrontation between Dan and Paradox will be part fight/part Paradox attempting to convince Dan that he's right. Hopefully, if I'm a good enough writer, his side should be at least a LITTLE compelling…
-That awesome 3rd panel is pretty neat without words on it, I'll be putting up a text free version of that up sometime in the future. If you care about that sort of thing.
And finally, the new group crossover comic that I'm a part of: Crossoverkill has been featured! (If you didn't already know.) Which also updated today with a page done by ME! I only hope we live up to the quality standard first set by Crossoverlord.

in a high school wrestling match i once saw someone pry off someone on top of them using his foot, pinning one's arms is overrated.

I think I'd be stuck guessing too much to have any definitive answer, so I'm going to go with 3 more guesses* and then call it. First, I would guess from the facial features that she is "The Black Dahlia", but that's not exactly a classic literary character. Second guess is Nyx, goddess of night. This is seriously going to bug me until you reveal it. ;) *Then again, maybe I'm totally off, and you're using the monster on the bottom left, which could easily be Grendel's mother.*

If I give you too many clues it'll be too easy. Just having the date + "female villain" in Google will take you right to it.
RustyJefferson at 9:46PM, Nov. 9, 2010
I was thinking LotR was a stretch for classic literary character, but Sauron would fit the villain role - and saying the woman is the literary character is just plain cruel... I'll be thinking about it all day tomorrow. Any change of a hint on the time period for "classic literature"? I'm trying to think if the black is a symbol for the emotional state of the character, (like, say, Ophelia), or actual dress mentioned in the book as in Sandman's Death.
theRedDeath at 8:28PM, Nov. 9, 2010
No, it's not Sauron. I don't think the unique "Midgard" history is compatible with a regular Earth history that BGH is based in. Despite the fact that "Midgard" is just supposed to represent Earth among one of the nine worlds. I've never been particularly a fan of LotR anyway. The classic literary character is the woman.

D'oh! Rated...
RustyJefferson at 6:33PM, Nov. 9, 2010
Sorry Dan, meant to rate it a 5. Sauron seems most likely as a villain, with the crown and all.
RustyJefferson at 6:31PM, Nov. 9, 2010
Would that be Sauron on the left?
theRedDeath at 6:05PM, Nov. 9, 2010
It's "Dark Matter" actually, but kudos to you for even remembering that old DeviantArt page. But Dark Matter appeared in BGH previously in page #284 as a part of Dr. Magnetus's criminal meta-human organization. A good place to make super-villain connections... y"know....before it blew up.
Wes_Nero123 at 5:46PM, Nov. 9, 2010
I recognize Mr. Matter's enemy Anti-Matter from the third panel from you deviant art account. The other three I have no idea haha

I've been wondering for a bit who Evan is the doppelganger of (really, ever since the ending of part 2 of Bad Guy High Adventures). I'm trying to think of characters with blond hair and keep thinking of Captain America and that just can't be right.
jtubbesi at 9:39AM, Nov. 9, 2010
Evan could very well be a hero. He already is wearing heroic colors (light blue) as opposed to Dan's evil colors of black and purple.

"I'm mean because the world made me that way" - Hitler - Attila tha Hun - Elmo

Panel 3 is Kirbyliciously awesome.
Nepath at 6:46AM, Nov. 9, 2010
im ashamed to say I have never read your comic :( I will get started on the archives right away!
dwrean at 5:58AM, Nov. 9, 2010
so thats what the talking skull has been up too! wait... is that godzilla or a clone behind him?
algeya at 5:46AM, Nov. 9, 2010
Nice, I recognize some of those guys and there is an "old man logan" reference. But to be fair Dan killed half of the camaderie of heroes and Evan was reponsible of the death of the F-men. Dont worry about continuity there is always some kind of apocalipse every weekend at Pilli adv. besides all comics realities have apocaliptic futures.

=)
alschroeder at 2:40AM, Nov. 9, 2010
I have to admit--the BGH-verse can be a pretty creepy place.
Xade at 12:51AM, Nov. 9, 2010
nice page :)
CoreBelote at 11:53PM, Nov. 8, 2010
This is an interesting brawl. There are a number of ways that it could turn out, but in the end I think that the results will be the same. I'll keep my thoughts to myself as to what I think might happen. ;) A great page however.
Darth Xelleon at 11:47PM, Nov. 8, 2010
I didn't even think that until you mentioned it. ugh
theRedDeath at 10:23PM, Nov. 8, 2010
Well it's okay if it looks creepy. It SHOULD look creepy. I'm just saying he's not trying to sex up his younger self.
Mr Kaos at 10:06PM, Nov. 8, 2010
Well. still it doesn't excuse his actions.. and the last panel kinda is creepy.
