BGH#482 Defy Destiny

Whoooo! Man, this has been a long time coming. Yeesh, it's all fun and games until someone fades into ethereal oblivion.

And can I ever have a story arc in BGH that DOESN'T include Dan getting the crap mercilessly beat out of him? Of course not! It's almost as if I have some kind of deeply rooted self-loathing issues or something. But that'd be crazy!

Yes, Dan beat Paradox just by promising to never become him, thus erasing him completely from existence. For those of you wondering why Dan didn't just do this earlier, the answer is quite simple: It wouldn't have worked.

Presuming Dan had even thought of it, it wouldn't have stuck because until THIS confrontation, the “Evil future Dan” was just a vague concept to him. Every day we wake up we make a general promise to ourselves to “be a good person” and such, but it's not until we're actually faced with those challenges that we're really put to the test. Only after Dan had actually seen and known Paradox, could he then make a REAL promise to never become him. That's why he couldn't have done it earlier.

Also keen eyed fans will recognize the theoretical string of time from BGH#447

Ha! Ha! It all comes together!
