I think one of the best big monster reveals captured on film is still the chestburster in Ridley Scott's 1979 classic Alien. According to hearsay, the reactions were genuine because the actors were unaware of how the vaguely scripted sequence would actually turn out. I don't know for certain whether that's true or not, but it makes for a great anecdote all the same! A close second is the harrowing resurrection of Sean Chapman's character in 1987's Hellraiser, and then there's Sadako's iconic emergence through the television set at the end of 1998's Ring, a scene that was equally as cool and atmospheric in the 2002 American remake. What's your favourite monster reveal in movies, television, or video games?

Is this giant dog helping or did they just fall from the frying pan into the fire? Favorite monster reveals. Now I'm not an expert but I will happily talk about the ones that scared me. Sadako crawling out of the tv screen was definitely one of them. I found most of the ghosts in The Haunting of Hill House to be terrifying but the Bent-Neck Lady has to be my top scare from it. Also in Bendy & the Ink Machine there were plenty of good scares but truly terrifying when we read Episode 4 and get a nice close up of the projector man staring right at you. God my heart stopped.

We shall have to see, won't we? And those are definitely some good reveals! There was some beautiful visual work on the ghosts in The Haunting of Hill House, and Bendy had a suitably frantic atmosphere to accompany its monsters.
