Grey Guys and Gals don't have parents and are assigned their names by the species they serve in this case the carnivorous humans exemplified by Bob and Theda. There is a back-story for the universe that will be alluded to as the story goes along.

Did their mothers give them those names?! Ah, buffers are good. I think if I ever could get one though I'd be tempted to just burn through it.
