Counterbalance of forces

Fire and Ice.
Two powerful forces that can cause untold destruction.
Putting a blade into a raging fire will eventualy melt the steel if gone unchecked.
Putting a blade into freezing ice will make the blade brittle and even allow rust to settle in.
But if you use the fire to heat the blade, then use ice to quench that blade, now these two “destructive” forces are benificial by tempering the metal making it stronger.
