Why does Biggs (who has a ‘bit part’ in the movie) get such an interesting costume, while Luke gets to wear karate fatigues? Fans have speculated that this colorful outfit is his graduation uniform, supported I believe by either Expanded Universe canon or perhaps the Alan Dean Foster novelization of the film. Biggs even gets a cape, which has given me plenty of fuel for further strips featuring this fun, delusional character.

Some of you might be wondering who the hell Biggs Darklighter is. Others might be so well versed in Star Wars mythology that you're rolling your eyes that I'm even going to explain it. But Biggs was basically Luke's street racing role model who had left town a few years ago to attend the Imperial Academy so that he could join the Starfleet and get off Tatooine. He returns to the town of Anchorhead (which is also cut from the movie by the removal of this scene) to find Luke and tell him something. That ‘something’ will have to wait until next Wedneday's strip however.

You can actually watch the deleted scenes from Star Wars if you go to Youtube and do a search. I can understand why they were cut, but they are still neat.
