Note for those who might be wondering: the kids turned to stone in the first panel are the Ao–the thirteen kids of the Polynesian god of winds/storms, Tawhiri. They each represent a type of wind or cloud. I’ve theorized there might have been a fourteenth at one time, but no one wanted to worship the “breaking” wind.
