Chapter 2 - Page 94

Yes, Cochlea & Eustachia is back on The Duck!
I am a bit embarrassed to be slinking back onto this forum, especially after my (somewhat snotty) declaration of independence from “giving away free stuff” a couple of years ago. Clearly, I am not a very good capitalist. Nonetheless, I still entertain hopes of earning an income from drawing weird comics.
I am actually really happy to be posting my comics here again. I miss having people respond to a page when it’s completed. Right at this moment, I cannot promise a regular posting schedule - I am deeply involved with several concurrent projects - but I do hope to increase the output of pages for C&E in the near future.
So, I offer my apologies to the readers here. I don’t blame anybody who might feel resentful. I am not the most gracious and consistent fellow, but I do try to be transparent with my reasons for doing things - even when those reasons aren’t particularly clear even to myself.
If anybody reading this has any comments or questions, please don’t hesitate to share them now.

Wow, you can just see how evil that miasma smells. I was definitely sad to see this comic go, so I'm very happy to see it back. Sorry to hear your endeavor failed; I've been in a similar spot before. I found that doing work for a handful of paying customers is no substitute for having a real audience. Also, gearing my work toward a marketable product made it creatively limiting and less fun, and the payoff just wasn't worth it.

I agree with what you said. I still have hopes, though!

Glad to see you're back, though sorry to hear things didn't work out elsewhere. Such is life sometimes, I suppose.

No need for sympathy about my returning to The Duck. I am genuinely thrilled to be posting the comic back on this site. I discovered how much I missed it just now as I was re-loading these pages. As for making income from drawing comics, I will go back to focusing on my print books and developing the Patreon pages. By the way, you can support me and the comics at : https://www.patreon.com/hansrickheit

I’m sorry it didn’t work out, but at the same time, I’m glad to see you back. you are an extremely talented artist.

Great to see you back. It would be wonderful to see a comic as good as this actually make money for the creator, but it seems it's all a bit hit and miss in the creative world at the moment. Supposedly the average wage for a writer in the UK has dipped to about 10,000 pounds a year, and other countries would suggest that's above the world average. That's just not right.
