Chuck's response to this was “We're getting crass.”
Which is partially but not entirely true. Truth is we were always kind of crass. And that it waxes and wanes depending on multiple factors. Really, this is no more crass than anything else we've ever done, it's just there were a few crass comics close together so it seems like more of a trend than it really is. In the overall scheme of C@P not much has changed in terms of type of humor.
Another contributing factor, and I'm sure I mentioned this before, is that it's rare that I have both Ryan and Chuck around to help storyboard. It's usually one of the other, and then that person's sense of humor is slightly more prominent in the storylines where he is greater help. Clearly, Ryan was the most help in these recently. Ryan's humor is generally darker and more random, he's got this “throw the spagetti against the wall and see what sticks” sense of humor, that gets shot down alot of the time but occasionally comes up with gems that are just brilliant, and generally influences the jokes to be a little more mean. Chuck on the otherhand is much better at building a funny situation, from which jokes just naturally spring out. His jokes tend to be a little less offensive, but often are more genuinely funny.
**edit** This is one of the many throwbacks in this storyline. Figgered I should link to the original for everyone who doesn't have a photographic memory to the storyline. Incidentally, the original was the comic that made Becky decide she loved Willard Scott.
