Here's the cover for Chapter 2 - and a mindblowing piece of artwork it is too! Drawn by The Red Death of BAD GUY HIGH and colored by TV's Mr Neil of DASIEN. I particularly love the composition of this page and how effortlessly and dynamically it combines so many visual elements. Readers of THE CROSSOVERLORD will no doubt be familiar with the figure in the left corner of the top panel and those of you who have been paying attention to the concept art that's been on display this last week will spot some familiar figures in the bottom panel. All of which offers up some significant clues as to degree of awesome that's about to go down big time in this chapter. Oh and look, who's that storming into the middle panel? Looks like a rather cross Valkyrie to me! Can I just say I particularly love the Fusion/Energize pose there in the center of the page - fantastic stuff! And great job with the colors Neil!
Can't wait? Well hang in there because it's all going to kick off from Monday with something special from Neil… at least I believe it's Monday - check back soon for confirmation!
Sorry I'm so late to comment. This cover turned out wonderfully. Dan's art and Neil's colors work really well together. (I bet Savunn would be thrilled to be so prominently featured too.)
@algeya if you mean coloring OVER the black parts then yes; See Neil's answer.
But if you mean the actual black shadows that are still black then: No. I did the picture in full black and white including the shadows. I didn't give Neil untouched lineart.
Yeah. Kittyhawk does this thing now where if Yuuki's really mad, her line art turns dark red, so I threw that in there. I also did something similar with the lightning and Vector's helmet. All I did was cut out those parts onto layers and then manipulated the colors separately.
Well it's fun to imagine. I especially think of it due to recently getting Heroes Unite: Ego and Fury from IndyPlanet. I know it was not a mney-making endeavor for Abt_Nihil to put the comic on IndyPlanet, but it would benice for all involved if it had been. Considering the changes in style and resolution were not incredibl jarring, I was hoping the same option could happen for the "Crossoverteam" (as I think the Crossoverlord and Crossoverkill overarching series could be called). However, I do know that Crossoverteam incorporates far more characters (mostly as background, of course), which is a more difficult problem logistically. Not to mention Dan's characters are a lot harder to justify in such a comic, as DC might claim copyright infringement (though it's parody, which should be okay).
It's just sad to know that such good artists and writers are not seeing any monetary returns for their hard work. Unless you sell other merchandise, of course (Syko Suki purses, Energize t-shirts, Mindmistress necklaces, Dead Debbie hats, Captain Perfect motorcycles--the possibilities are endless, though the last one is not very practical). Still, you all put this up without expectation of a return and I commend you. Though I may never rate pages (unless I had a hand in making them--I'm selfish that way), I do love the comics.
That might be really hard. The page formats on Crossoverlord are all over the place, and I know for a fact that not all of my pages are high res. There are rights issues. I don't think we could ever get it in print.
I do wonder: are there any plans to put Crossoverkill (or Crossoverlord) on IndyPlanet? I just wonder because I know I would love to see the comics in print. It would be difficult logistics to figure out how to divvy up the pay, though (especially as it may be difficult to contact Ida, I would assume).
But this is a great cover. I wonder how the heck s many of the artists here on Drunk Duck have ot gotten paid work, considering the high quality so many can churn out (and for some of them, a relatively high volume espite so little free time). Maybe this is part of why I would want to see the comic in print, so I could contribute in some way (and get a nifty comic to read even when not in a wireless hotspot--it's annoying not having Internet at home).
When the next page goes up is entirely up to you guys, Stephen. You won't be waiting long for it to show up in your inbox.
Kinda had to get the cover done here and there, but there you have it. Lots of cool stuff coming up in this chapter. Can't spoil any of it.

As I have told EssayBee over on the Fusion pages, I would kill for the privilege of paying to buy a Fusion t-shirt.

Beautiful job by Dan (drawing) and you (coloring), Neil.
