Great page by Essaybee of FUSION. I LOVE the look on MM's face. Next best thing to her banging her head against the desk—
Don't blame Hoodoo TOO much. You have to remember in HER reality, everybody who becomes a superhero gets the equivelent of Police Academy training. Would most cops like working with fifteen year olds or…in Energize's case…literally a loose cannon?
Friction is bound to happen, when you mix heroes from different worlds.—Al
@xmung- If its all the same to you, I'd rather stay annoymous so as to avoid people hateting me or mislabeling me as a troll just because I made a comment that in heinsite was not called for.Its hard to take back an insult when folks are already mad at you but you still wan't your underlineing point to be understood.
@xmung SuperDan was in the top of hs class and you know what happened to him, or naruto that is one of the five more powerful ninja alive and he still a genin(lower grade ninja the equivalent of elemntary school)
@anon (no need to be anon though!) - I absolutely take your point. Hoodoo *is* being misguided. She is thinking that they need people at the top of their game and fully in charge of the use of their powers. Fusion, Energize and Yuuki are without doubt the group's most powerful members, although Hoodoo is herself powerful too - her experience has probably led her to see the dangers and problems of power without adequate training, she is being blinkered but, from her point of view, with good reason.
does bgh universe have a school for good guys?
if they do are those guys their sport rivals alongside ninja and coocking school?

While I can see where Hoodoo is coming from with her critisisms I have to say that her background has blinded her to the fact that heroism is not somthing that can be professionalized. Heroism is relative and the tital of a hero is given by the people not a school. Adolf Hitler, while commonly considered a villian today, was revered as a German hero by his people at the time for brining wealth to the country and helping it become a world power. My underlining point "Hoodoo has no more right to judge peoples heroic quality based on their abbillities, background, or skill."
by her own examples there are even less professionals in the group than she counts on, as herself and perfect are the only ones who have gone through academyish training. though yuuki has gone through a 'hero' boot camp of sorts, as well as majestic knight. though she did throw out yuuki's, so that probably means that majestic's doesn't count as well. though as far as she has thought this out, she has simply judged the books by their covers.
Also, characters can end up dead in the Magellanverse, so from Hoodoo's point of view she is concerned about seemingly young and inexperienced heroes getting themselves and/or their teammates killed. I'm not defending her for being obnoxious about it (I wrote her to be like that) but just wanted to point out why she sees things that way.
@algeya: well, Hoodoo DOES actually have power of her own (and lots of it), also she disn't 'steal' power from Yuuki in the non-magic-universe - in the same way you may find yourself full of static electricity standing near a lightning strike or dynamo she was able to absorb qualities of Yuuki's mystical power.
@God of War: Hoodoo would have been in Magellan Academy at Yuuki/Fusion's age, which in part is weighing into her prejudice here.
@KAM: True, she is tutoring only one student though, the super-brainy (but not as brainy as MM) Rochelle Kwan... but I'll leave the details to Al's story
I deliberately wrote Hoodoo as being obnoxious in this page... but it goes to her sense of professionalism and candid nature. Sometimes people lose sight of what it was like at the beginning of a journey/process/career - but also when they go through institutionalised training they have a very different outlook on (so-called) 'amateurs' and 'upstarts'...!
Hoodoo is somewhat mistaken, they have both a trainer/mentor (cq. Thor and Bob/Brooder). But she is right they need more assistance, the DG IS a big gang to tackle .
IIRC Mindmistress said during one of the Crossover War comics that she isn't a hero. (And yet she is allowed to teach at a super hero academy, go fig?)
oh hodoo you are so mistaken.
For someone who doesnt have power of her own (stealing from the universe magic) cant imagine the heavy hitters that so called amateurs can handle
Funny thing, but every time youg superheroes meets professional ones, they're dismissed as kids and amateurs. Most of times adult heroes doesn't seem to remember they started that way themselves, the ox forgotten his time as a claf, as the saying goes. I wonder how Hoodoo was doing in her young days.

Hey, I'm not saying she's RIGHT, just that it's HER view of things - authors can have different views from their characters y'know ;)

Energize could use a few years at Magellan!!
AzuJOD at 9:47PM, Oct. 4, 2011
I'm guessing Magellan should start offering some inter-dimensional correspondence courses.

Someday I'm going to write up the first encounter of MM and Magellan. I've even talked a little with Stephen about the plot.

That is an amazing picture of Mindmistress in that middle panel. Again, your expressions are flawless!
