I think we've been pretty careful to keep Mindmistress' sniping limited so that she's not being an intellectual bully. It's more of just a general annoyance of each other's character. After all, you have the presumably college-educated Dasien, who dresses and acts the way she does. Mindmistress knows that Dasien is smart and would probably pick her in a heartbeat if the chips were down.
My interpretation of MM's intelligence is that, as it states in her own comic, her IQ level kind of loses some of its meaning at the level she has. I take that as meaning that she's a faster thinker than the others, and she can pick up on subtleties that the others don't, but she still makes very human mistakes (also, something you see in her own comic).
Besides, as we've explored, the gulf of intellect has both advantages and disadvantages for Mindmistress. Dasien has already gotten her a couple of times, particularly with the Brain Babe bit. She's still at the mercy of the unpredictability of other characters, otherwise she'd have solved this whole crisis already.
I try to think of ways to keep things evened out so that Mindmistress doesn't always *win*. With Mindmistress' memories being what they are, I often wonder if it's she who has trouble focusing, with all that *noise* in her head.
Since you don't like the art style I do for MM (and no offense taken at ALL--everybody has different preferences, and I personally prefer quasi-realism over minimalism, although I enjoy some minimalist artists also) you MIGHT like the Mindmistress/Magellan crossover at http://www.graphicsmash.com//comics/magellan.php?view=archive&chapter=14892&mpe=0 --- drawn by Magellan's author, in a relatively minimalist/semi-manga style also.
The Dasien/MM thing I don't really see as intellectual put-down as much as I do instinctive and mutual dislike. Like Sub-Mariner and the original Human Torch, or Spider-Man and the FF's Torch, or Hawkman and Green Arrow, or Doc Savage's Monk and Ham. (Besides, it's FUN.) I see Dasien giving as much as she's getting, like the one where Dasien gave MM a horrendous mental picture that she literally CAN'T forget.
But of course, Lorelei IS MM, just not with her intellect amplified. We'll see next time how well Dasien and Lorelei interact. (Also drawn by Neil, BTW.)
Not denying there's an intellectual gulf between MM and Dasien, but it's bigger perhaps than you realize, and applies to all of them, not just Dasien. MM's like a lone human on an island of chimps, comparatively. (Literally: there's a town in Florida run by chimps who have gone through the same process MM has, that work on web security and technical support, without anyone being aware they're chimps, as shown in one MM story.) And she's as lonely as you would be... on that island of chimps.
I think Al's kinda hit on why I disapprove of Mindmistress a bit. After all, everyone in this group is smart, competent and has proven themselves in a number of dangerous situations. And yet, Mindmistress feels the need to snipe at Dasien even though she's above average in the intelligence department too.
...yeah, I definitely empathize with Dasien more than Mindmistress. Her being a writer only adds to that (journalism is writing too, just as documentaries are still cinema). Still, seeing MM's transformation makes me inclined to be more sympathetic towards her. I'd consider that a significant drawback to super-intellect too. Maybe it even explains her conflict with Dasien. Doesn't excuse it, but still...
But that's enough self indulgent commenting. Great stuff. Lorelei looks a lot better in this comic than the previous one (though I'm more of a minimalist anyway, so feel free to call it a style choice).
Dasien's journalist career is nothing more than an excuse to never show her actually at work. Presumably, she does all her work at home, with a cup of coffee and a lap top. That's about as much thought as I put into it.
She never seems to talk like a journalist, although I can't think of too many writers who speak as eloquently as they write. Dasien seems to prefer being feral when she knows it's okay to be so.
Neil's Arbitary Rules Of Comedy #632: Women who behave unladylike are always funny.
Even Lisa/ANT's pretty smart (considering she's talking in English, rather than her native tongue, gives you one indication)...she's just a kid, and prone to, ummm, overenthusiasms. Dasien's a writer. (I bet her prose is of the Hemingway/Norman Mailer school though...direct and to the point.)
However, EQ? Emotional quotient? I think they ALL could use some work.
You get a bunch of super-beings together and they almost always act like children in a playground, anyway...
Excellent page! So many great facial expressions on this page alone!
The nice thing about doing lots of great facial expressions is that you don't have to say what the characters are thinking.
You could have one character say something and have it mean the opposite. You could have the dialogue drop a hint but then hide it by making the character's face draw your attention to something else.
It's one of the things that I've really prided myself on is learning how to make characters express things outside of the word bubbles.

An IQ of 66? I suspect that's still higher than the IQ of some of her new companions here!
