Anyhoo, in today's episode, we have Lightbringer and ANT trying to get the two muscle girls out of bed. BIG! MISTAKE!
You don't get Dasien out of bed without at least a plate of flapjacks to back you up. Even still, you should be ready to run.
Also, if there's one thing I've learned from my overlord, Adam Warren, it's that you can get away with a filthy word in a teen-rated comic if you muffle it.
Hehee, I've been in this situation before in the Marines. Watching the newbies wake up people KNOWN to NOT be morning people (especially after a weekend of drinking far beyond excess) for Monday PT sessions was always a fun rite of passage.

Oh, I'm definitely on the side of people who wants to sleep in when finaly given the chance, and I have more than once giving people strict warnings about waking me up abruptly... the last who did that took one look at my face, went sober at the spot and bolted for the door... the unopened soda can hit him right between the shoulderblades before he made it though... :P
It's a nice touch that GA gives Lisa a chance to armor up before taking out her morning crankyness on her... though an ANT-shaped hole in the wall would have been fun :D
When angry superheroes are involved, rarely are doorways used when a brand new one can be made by going through the wall.
Damn it! Where were you seven days ago with these ideas? That would have been so much funnier to see ANT come crashing through the wall!
Can I retcon this page? No? Damn.
I side with the night people myself. Some of the best time to work creatively.
Judging by the expressions on the faces of Dasian and Green Avenger, A.N.T. and Lightbringer got off easy. When angry superheroes are invovled, rarely are doorways used when a brand new one can be made by going through the wall.
I've varied my way of illustrating Mindmistress' mask here and there.
I do prefer the blank eye holes, letting the line thickness of the holes themselves to interpret the direction to which Mindmistress is looking. On this page, however, the expressions I needed were far too complex for that, so I let the close-up of her mask allow her eyes to be seen for this one special occasion.
That morning routine has a lot in common with the way my mother would get my sister and I out of bed when we were kids. In fact, the phrase "You're burning daylight," is my mother's own words.
She would also bang the door open and flip the light on, and she did this bugle call with her mouth that, if I could have, I would have put into the comic as well.
By the way, Al, the "sacred cows" quip nearly knocked me out of my seat.
I am not a morning person either, and need a good cup of coffee to get started ^^
Great expressions with only one eye! I believe this is the first time that Neil draws MM's eyes in her mask instead of white holes (as in panel 2)
For those of you who are wondering where the next Mindmistress update is, since I usually update MWF, Comicgenesis is having some problems, but it IS on MM's livejournal, at http://mmsophia.livejournal.com/.
As for MM's dry wit...it's more apparent when she's working with others. A lot of times her holographic AI Vicki is her foil, like http://mindmistress.comicgenesis.com/trust14.htm
or when she was making comments on some current comic trends at http://mindmistress.comicgenesis.com/comic4.htm.
I hope no one is frustrated at the slow pacing. There's plenty of action and horrifying situations coming, but I'm a strong believer in getting to know the characters. Then the action and horror will hit you MORE because you'll already care about the characters.
I don't know about you, but the characters I tend to remember more I get to KNOW them before they go out and save the world...even in a superhero comic.
I gotta say, I love this page more than the others I've read. Hell, I actually identified with Mindmistress in this one (and found myself laughing along with her).
I don't necessarily consider it a bad thing to not immediately identify with Mindmistress. It would be difficult to get inside the mind of someone who is significantly more intelligent. In a way, she should be hard to identify with.
Overall, I find Mindmistress to have a particularly dry sense of humor, which is something I always find funny. In this one, she's not doing that so much and instead enjoying the comedy, quip-free.
It is a very unusual moment for ol' Double-M, but I do bring her back to dry-ville with that last panel. All comedy just drops from her face.
Y'sure that's panel 9, Neil?
ANYWAY, I think it's adorable that Das and GA are not only not morning people, they're also VIOLENT Not-Morning people!
But they both will rise for breakfast.
It's so cute that they're so much alike!
Hmm, might not be a morning person myself...I just don't know, given what odd hours I keep.
I gotta say, I love this page more than the others I've read. Hell, I actually identified with Mindmistress in this one (and found myself laughing along with her).
I am amused by other people, what can I say? It's nothing malicious, since I love people too. In fact, half the reason I love people is because they make me laugh. The other half is that they touch me sometimes too.
...I meant emotionally, you sickos.
