Good morning, boys and girls. Did you really think I'd forget this day? Pssshhhhaw!
So, the heroes are still trapped in adjacent realities, but they finally got a break! It's the Shelterville Train! That's kind of a sad sprite train, I must admit. I was having a hell of a time making one. That's harder to do than I thought.
Anyway, today's comic was partially done in MS Paint, because it's much easier to manage than in Photoshop. If you've seen any of my prior sprite parodies, you'll spot some shortcuts here. There are some modified models here, but most shameful of all is the fact that Debbie never… ever… moves.
By the way, there are a ton of video-game-related gags in today's comic. I won't spoil them all, but I have to say that I had to represent the greatest moment in video game history, the suplexing of the train.
By the way, you guys are in for all sorts of Crossoverlord-related mayhem if you jaunt over to Bad Guy High Adventures. It's just a cover page at the moment, but it won't be for long!
Ack! It should have been Cornelia instead of Corneria, the latter being from Star Fox. I believe the confusion was even lampooned in 8-Bit Theater. Darn you, Brian Clevinger! You memed me.
Actually, nothing against Star Fox. I definitely intended that to be a Final Fantasy reference, though.
And you're right. The second warp hole is also from Chrono Trigger. It's one of tne of the coolest effects ever done on the Super Nintendo when you actually see it in motion.
I should play that game again. Everyone should. If you have a DS, go buy it on Amazon or eBay or something. You won't regret it.
Actually, I think both warp portals are from Chrono Trigger. The second is the image that waves when you are traveling thru time.
So Ivalice is the starting city in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, which later turns into the name of the entire world. It is posible that the name existed earlier, but I can't think of anything else.
Cornelia is also a name of a FF game. I think it's from FFV, the city/castle from where came the pirate Faris/Princess Sarisa and her sister whose name I cannot right now recall. If not, then it may have been the starting city in the original Final Fantasy game. Awesome game and wonderful city, either way.
Yes, I'm glad someone caught the Chrono Trigger warp portal in the first panel. I had the hunt far and wide to get a good screen grab of that.
Also, you game fans out there might want to Google search some of those train destinations, if you don't recognize them outright. They're certainly some of MY favorite places in the video game industry.
Excellent sprite Algeya, and good catch on the portal too! That is definitely the time warp from Chrono Trigger.
Also, wow Neil, I'd totally forgotten Sabin could do that. I think I even saw him do it once...been so long, can't remember if I tried it myself. Maybe I'm just imagining remembering it. Memory does that sometimes. ;)
BTW, Dan has updated BGH ADVENTURES (see the link above), just a little while ago, with five or so pages, and you will see directly how this impacts our story, and why, in the cover of this chapter, we included SuperDan. Make sure you use the BACK button to read all the pages.
I didnt expect a comic during spring break and also
thats chrono trigger time travel portal!!!!
Anyway doing sprite comics in photoshop its not hard
as you think just download a game sprite sheet and modify them

probably there are like a ton of tutorials in the drunk duck forum.
The Shelterville Train was last seen in THIS comic at this page and the Shelterville Train is an interdimensional "train" that first appeared in the excellent webcomic {url=http://www.drunkduck.com/Magical_Misfits/]MAGICAL MISFITS on this page.
Mindmistress was starting to say that the quantization of visible light particles, at least, in that reality is much "larger" than in our world, and then realized, no one else cared.
Happy April Fool's everybody, and thanks, Neil, for making Crossoverlord---just for a page---a "sprite" comic.

New page up at BAD GUY HIGH ADVENTURES with a VERY familiar face! Or mask. Or whatever.

Don't feel bad that Debbie doesn't move in this strip. That's normal for (poorly done) sprite comics.

LOL, nice sprites

It's going to be a companion piece/side story to the main story.

I second the vote for a fully rendered pick of Das in the Cat costume.

I'd like to see Dasien in that outfit outside of spriteland.
