I've seen members of my own extended family do things like this. Family is a concept some people chose not to embrace. So sad.

So have I. The one that I hate the most is the rich person rejecting step-children especially when they children of their own and expect the new spouse to reject their own children while accepting theirs. One rich man explained himself by saying "their own father didn't want them and they're clearly of low pedigree. Why should I want them especially when my blood is the superior?" and yes a modern day rich man said that.
