Sweet tea is the peak of hospitality in many southern states - this is NOT necessarily true of Florida, which is filled with Yankees who have emigrated, mostly elderly, who do not want a lot of sugar mucking up the works. It was aggravating to my husband when we went down there for our first anniversary, 'cause he's lived here in Georgia for 15 years now and is accustomed to sweet tea; having to specifically ask for it drove him bats. Of course, it wasn't as bad as when he came to Minnesota. There if you want sweet tea, they point out the sugar packets on the table ... Hehe.
