Rather than the plant itself calming her down I think it is curiosity over WHY the plant is being fed blood, and just WHO Angela is. I mean, you can't last even 150 years without going bughouse unless you have a keen intellect and the curiosity to learn new things and the ability to adapt to new situations and an ever-changing world.
