Danielle isn’t the accepting kind and she definitely isn’t taking Marie’s word for her her claim. We know Marie isn’t in Indianapolis because she wants to be. It’s also a sure bet as to why William Sturgis sent her there.

There's certainly some bad blood - and vampires are of course rather sensitive to that. Also, no matter what Sturgis' secret task may be, Marie may have some genuine feelings of guilt, the way she has so far kept from "vamping up" herself.

Until a few days ago, Marie didn't even know her daughter was still "alive." Danielle is in the same boat about her mother. There are a lot of issues to be dealt with.
