Here we have Max ready to off himself (I'm pretty sure I was inspired by the opening part of the movie Cocoon II where one of the old guys fails at trying to hang himself (which was like the only good part of Cocoon II)).

The doorbell rings. Max takes the noose off and stumbles and falls off his chair.
