Doctor Who: Fade Away Page 7

This is page 7 of Doctor Who: Fade Away by my talented pal and collaborator Paul Hanley (story, colors, and lettering) and myself (pencils and inks). It is our (very fond) farewell to Nicholas Courtney.
I did this page twice. The first version had a very British looking hospital. Paul didn't think it worked. It had to say “this is the future.” I agreed with him and completely reworked the page.
I like this page because it speaks to how people react to death. Until you are personally acquainted death as an individual…you really don't know how you'll react. I'm talking about a personal death here. Someone you don't expect to die. Don't want to die. Then they do.
Your reaction is based upon your own experience and where you are at in life. I think Paul captured that brilliantly in this scene.
Paul's Commentary: Page 7 of our 9-part story. Art by my talented bud and collaborator Shawn Van Briesen , story, colors, and lettering by me.
We're nearing the end! I love this page- I really like what Shawn did with it. There was also something kinda thrilling about doing “new” Eccleston stuff. His short tenure as the Doctor (and the way he left the show) seems to guarantee a “time-lock” preventing anything “official” coming from his era again. So there was something kinda dirty and transgressive about writing him into this. :D He's also the only Doctor who's era didn't include the Brigadier “by design”, so I wanted to run with exactly why that might have been…
Btw, we're still looking for colorists for our next series. E-mail if you can help us out!

This is an amazing tribute! The art is spectacular. I am so impressed at how you've captured all these great characters and the actors who portrayed them. I can hear their accents when I read the dialogue! This is a serious fan comic.
