Many years ago, I was put into a position where I was acting as a parent figure for my own parent, and was forced to “mature” at a young age. What I didn't understand at the time, I wasn't “mature”, I was just assuming the responsibilities of an adult. I didn't understand or perceive things the way an adult does. It put me into a bad place that made me particularly vulnerable to predatory adults (mostly men) to actively seek me out and feed me the “you're so mature for your age” line. Often, I got comments from people thinking I was in my 30s when I was no older than 15 or so.

Now I'm well into adulthood and predatory men are a regular occurrence, and unfortunately a consequence of life. Part of maturing into being an adult woman is acknowledging this. You will always need to avoid the wolf, but the wolf only needs to catch you once to have you.
