Hello, I guess I should tell you a little about me if you would like to know. Dreams of Zelia is a story that first came to me in a dream. In my dream was a girl, she was running from home. All she knew was gone, her parents, her home had gone up in flames and she knew deep down that she was to blame. Did she light the fire? Did she escape unable to save them? I don't know, I do know that she wanted to escape her pain, and she ran without knowing where to go. Then came into a park, and in the center of the park was a clearing, and a crowd of people. Something drew her there and she went to look at what the gathering was surrounding. On a platform in the center was a man, a tall strangely clothed man, like a magician in central park about to make a building dissapear he stood and as he spoke and the crowd was mesmerized. He spoke in a clear booming voice: “Not just anyone can have this power. In this ring is the power to end all of your pain.” He held up a ring and his eyes met with the young girl. He smiled knowingly as she approached. In the background a blacksmith was hammering a sword and as he hammered lightning flashed from the sky with each strike. “Do you wish to end all of your pain? Do you wish to have the power to control reality?” He spoke to the girl who walked up to him. “I do.” She whispered. “You understand you will never feel anything again?”
“I do.” She said. “Very well.” He took her raised hand and slipped the ring on slowly, as he did the blacksmith hammered three times, and a flash took over the sky. And then I woke up. I have described it the best to my memory without exaggeration, it was so real and so powerful I started to think about the girl. Why did she run away? Who was the magician? What powers does this ring have? And a world was being created in my head. I knew I had to write it, but I wasn't sure I could write at the level I invisioned. I started to write it 7 years ago, and 2 years ago i started to draw it. The story is still not complete, but in my head it is almost all written, the challeneg has always been putting it down. In a lot of ways this story is about transformation. But, mostly this story is about what we run from. So I invite you to explore your dreams and your nightmares.

Signing off,
Melissa Violet.
