Due East - Book 4 Cover
dueeast on Nov. 28, 2007
It's a day early, but I just couldn't wait! So here we go – Book 4 begins!
This cover was inspired by my wife (full_armor) and I am very grateful for her continued support and partnership in Due East. As you might imagine, this cover is extremely symbolic of our upcoming story. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll let the story explain itself as it unfolds.
Artistically, I used a combination of markers and computer coloring for this, which is something I feel pretty comfortable with now. It cuts down on time and allows some texture that flat computer coloring doesn't (well, not without a lot of layering and skills I have yet to develop… :)
Next update is Monday. Enjoy!
In the meantime, check out a new collaborative crossover comic I'm co-writing with the creators of Used Books and Wolf. It's called Off Hours and it involves the “actors” who play the characters on several Drunk Duck webcomics! Curious? Click the banner below to check out the comic.

I saw the 1st one you uploaded and kinda prefer the colors of it =P Great cover though, I love it when stories focus on character specific struggles and decisions! Also to note, you can update the page without deleting it. It just sometimes takes a few hours before the update goes live for some reason...

colors on top is cool. But the bottom section looks kinda too dark. Unless thats intentional. lol

I agree - brilliant colors and a beautiful analogy! This comic is so true to its name!

I revised the graphic and had to wipe the page to make it implement, which also erased Tantz Aerine's comment, so here it is again. Sorry, Tantz! User: Tantz Aerine Comment 5 Very interesting symbolism here! Great stuff. I can't wait to see what it really means. I also love the colours.
