Due East - Book 4 Page 2
dueeast on Dec. 9, 2007
This is Due East's first credits page and first full splash page. I wanted to give the overhead perspective of Carolyn having a contemplative walk down the street.
Responses to comments from the last page:
usedbooks: Thanks! The penciling is my first artistic love. It is my preferred style but I am getting more and more confortable with inking and coloring.
I agree. I don't think we'll really see any signs of gorging but the lack of appetite (for Carolyn) is bad enough.
Tantz Aerine: Thanks, I appreciate that. Yes, we're working pretty hard on the dialogue. We're trying to make it representative of how teenagers would talk to one another, even with such a crisis as Carolyn's mom's death.
blntmaker: Thanks. I agree, and I think this story is greatly needed to help show why Brielle and Carolyn have such a close tie to one another.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing your pages. :)
Rockster1039: Thanks for the 5!
kyupol: Nice bit of irony, eh?
JustNoPoint: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's nice to see you getting into envisioning the whole tv show/actors scenario. Cool!
trevoramueller: Thanks for your kind words and sentiment. I'm glad you enjoyed the pencils.
albone: Thanks. Yes, it is a pretty tense scene. :)
In the meantime, why not check out the new collaborative comic called Off Hours? How often do you get to see some of the webcomic “actors” from Due East, Nadya, Purgatory Tower, Better Luck Next Time, Used Books, The Devon Legacy, Wolf and Aurora of the High Seas off the set of their “shows?”

Great upper view shot. Those are always challenging!

Aeriel shots have always been a challenge to me. I enjoy watching other artists express their depth in that perspective. I have to agree that the long shadow adds a nice touch to the ambience in the whole splash. Great work with the pencils and expression!

the car's nice. Though overall perspective looks a bit inconsistent.

Beautiful bird's-eye shot.

This picture feels very lonely to me. Although there's a lot going on within it, the character is very solitary. The long shadow further before them could be a sign of forboding down the road. Very nicely done!

Lovely page. I really like the long shadow, adds to the mood. And I seriously envy your ability to draw cars.

Good job with this. I love the pensive, sad air she has about her, and I really like the blouse she's wearing. It is really fitting, considering. Well done all around. Also, your wife has a beautiful name :)
