Energize #1 - Page 20
The latest page is here and faster than the last update!
Hopefully the quality of this page is getting back on track, anyway it's done now and in only 5 more pages Part 1 will be complete!
I hope you enjoy.
PS: Take some time to check out the Energize Sketchbook.

Some thanks... @ozoneocean/literacysuks1 Thanks for your respective comments, always appreciated. As for Misty (pink haired girl), theres good news and bad news. The bad news is that she will not re-appear until Part 2, but the good news is that not only does Part 2 start in 5 pages time but as of then she will have a much more prominent role to the story. This story is not ongoing, it has a definitive beginning, middle and end, so this first part is intended to mainly introduce Energize and what he can do as well as set up the plot. Misty appears as a kind of teaser. @ Abt_Nihil: Thanks. I played around with some different ways for him to get them out and the end result was the one you see here. Im pretty pleased with how this came out. @doomedd44: Thanks for the comments. I feel I have pretty much got the hang of the whole explosion thing now, itââ¬â¢s nice to hear that someone else likes them too!! @ Dchao: Im glad you like that aspect of his power, itââ¬â¢s difficult deciding how to represent his speed each time around. @ Fitz: Thanks for the appreciation. Im actually a big fan of McFarlaneââ¬â¢s run on Spider-man and I like most of the dark tone comics that are about, but I was always a DC Comics fan and they had the true heroes in my opinion, and I want Energize to fit that tone. I always like to read your comments though, they give me some nice ideas for future pages. @TheMidge28, RapidoBlue, Matalicman, QSAMA, monster friend, Stevesan, man in black, RabbitMaster: Thanks for the comments

Pretty cool looking drawing style. I wonder who start the fire though?

In the last panel I'd have to agree with the person that says his right fist (my right) looks off and I think his face in that panel looks a bit skewed but the page is still good. As for writing so far it's great and captures that classic superhero feel without seeming derivative of those stories. Though I wouldn't mind getting away from the superhero stuff to figure out what the heck is up with that pink haired girl : P

Great Scott! The last panel is gorgeous... you can really feel the gravity on the three characters.
RabbitMaster at 12:04PM, Aug. 24, 2007
very well done. I wondered if the lady was gonna make it out.
doomedd44 at 8:17PM, Aug. 23, 2007
i must say, the explosion here looks more real than the one on several tv shows (law & order, NCIS,,, all those ones)
doomedd44 at 8:16PM, Aug. 23, 2007
EXPLOSION!!!
Dchao at 3:17PM, Aug. 23, 2007
so cool how fast he is xD
Fitz at 3:16PM, Aug. 23, 2007
OK, this page's just beautiful, everything's just right. The explosion is exactly the kind of effect I was talking about last time about the clouds - clear and present danger. You can almost see the flames moving. And referring back to what you said last time - maybe it's just me, but I think the general idyllic feel that you're aiming at should not "soften" the atmosphere in times of great danger. It should emphasize it - meaning, make it even more striking when something bad happens. I do understand, though, that it's your homage to classic comics. The one that comes to mind instantly is the early 80's Spider-Man, think John Romita Sr. That one was very "glossy", I think. Compare that with McFarlane's later experiments, especially the long story about Lizard.

nice dynamic page...the fist is a little wonky in the last frame but the balance of color and the frames makes overall the page to say Ka-Boom!!!
RapidoBlue at 2:02PM, Aug. 23, 2007
last pannel is AWESOME
Matalicman at 1:50PM, Aug. 23, 2007
