Fusion #4 Page 33

Sorry for the delay with this page; I had hoped to have it up about 4 hours ago, but there's been some utility work going on in my area and my internet connection's been kind of shoddy this morning.
Here's page 33 of Fusion #4. For those who've forgotten where we left off, X-Pletive told Fusion to watch as he takes care of some Speedsters guarding a warehouse, since the matter requires a certain finesse. And then he dropped a S.B.D., which disgusted Fusion, although he explained it was a trick Brooder taught him. Now it's time to see the trick at work.
I'm a little disappointed with the third panel–the Speedster on the left is supposed to look like he's caught in a wind tunnel, but I wasn't sure exactly how to pull that off; hopefully it works as drawn.
Anyway, tune in next week for an explanation of the subtleties of X-Pletive's strategy as well as a look at the psychological profile of a Speedster. For those who aren't fans of such low-brow humor, rest assured this part of the scene wraps up next week.

I think X-Pletive said all that needs to be said. :-)

Yeah, those are speedsters. From just about every media and franchise. They do seem to have a bit of a cookie cutter personality.

That's a quick and dirty example of how things might look more wind-tunnelish.

Re: Third panel -- actually I didn't even realize he was supposed to be fanning the air, I thought that was X-Pletive moving super-fast behind them. The thing is even small movements tend to have a visible impact on the rest of the body. If I were to fix the panel, I'd include a disgusted face instead of just a head-turn, and fanning up closer to his nose. Additionally, in a wind tunnel your skin would ruffle in the extreme conditions, so that's the missing fx you're looking for.

They may be fast physically, but mentally there as slow as snails....

I'll be honest here: and I've had my OWN problems with action shots. But panel three just didn't equate a wind tunnel in my mind... Shouldn't the speedsters see X-Pletive coming at what should be super-slow-motion? I can't wait for the explanation--of why flatulence is a good defense against speedsters.

It ain't pretty, but it works.
jamoecw at 5:39PM, May 3, 2011
ya, the third panel didn't come out quite right. i figured out what was happening, but wind tunnel effects? not really. i am waiting patiently for the explanation, i am sure it is going to be good.

Latex pants? Why would he even share that?

That. Was. Badass.

Not long on perception are they? Perhaps those goggles to protect their eyes limit their vision. Still trying to purge my brain of super-chafing from a speedster wearing corduroy.

Seeing the third panel started another train off thought in my perverted mind; they would give the term "a quickie" a completely new meaning. You just hear sonic boom and suddenly you feel moist. ;p Kinda makes you wonder if rabbits aren't secretly speeders... Anyway great page Essay Bee. Third panel get's the job done, so no worries there.
