Fusion #4 Page 37

Here's page 37 of Fusion #4. Sorry the update's a day late–we went away this past weekend for the Memorial Day holiday, and I got behind with my comic work.
Had to figure out an adequate way to handle explosions with this page, so hopefully the explosions look all right. I wanted to draw some tracer rounds slashing toward Fusion in the second panel, but just couldn't get a simple tracer line to look good in the pic, so I instead simply put some little white puffs of light on Fusion to indicate where the bullets are burning up on contact. Second panel is still kinda weak in my opinion, but hopefully it gets the job done.
In the last panel, we see why Brooder wanted Fusion to handle this situation. (He is a manipulative chap, isn't he?)
On a completely different note, my little sister gave birth to her second child today, so this page can be linked to my newest niece's birth.

I agree that you should've added some extra bullet holes, but other than that, nice effects.

how's that for shuttin' up expelative? I like the first explosion, but the second one doesn't look as cool. Yet ¿what tool did you used for them? that's an amaizing effect.

@jamoecw: In a comic book, sometimes you have to drop realism for style. Let's keep in mind you have a bunch of fools running around in brightly coloured tights. I agree though -- showing a wackload of bullet holes in the far wall would get the point across well. I mean, if we're gonna nitpick there's no way anyone could hear a thing over the roar those weapons would make at that range. As to how to do explosions... @EssayBee I think you did the job pretty well.

Fusion, natural enemy of gun-based defence mechanisms everywhere.

a .50 cal fmj hitting a person and a .50 cal hollow point are nearly identical as far as damage is concerned, unless that person is a walking tank, at which point you probably want the penetration of the fmj, though hollow point would do well against standard 'bullet proof' stuff protecting someone, but the extra damage probably wouldn't be a factor. tracers have similar ballistic capabilities against a target to that of fmj, though at such close range aiming isn't an issue (as you can see the impact of your shots), not to mention that the guns are computer controlled, thus tracers wouldn't be any different than fmj as far as the computer is concerned (unless it had a feedback system specifically designed for the tracers, at which point it would need the tracers to correct its aim properly). in the end if tracers were drawn it would be the same as a bullet being drawn by other artists, and only 2 on panel at most (even that would be a bit much). personally if i was loading the guns, i'd load them with HEIAP (high explosive incendary armor penetrating) rounds, which is the modern anti tank .50 cal round. with needing to defend against heroes that might be like the hulk or superman you need stuff that can drop a modern tank. frankly i think the panel came out fine, the impacts (not really as they are getting fused) are not too noticeable, but they are at a realistic size, and i think that if they were bigger then they wouldn't look good, and if the panel was zoomed on to her so you can see the impacts (which would mean more detail on them) you would lose the rest of the panel, which i think is more important to show. perhaps instead some bullet holes in the wall where the rounds missed her (if you draw a circle center on the center of the impact area not all rounds hit). it wouldn't be a perfect circle as the part of the circle that hits the wall would be smaller from the perspective of the panel. of course if you want to really realistic either the impact area should shrink considerably, or the large size would be do to flimsy mountings, which would make the impact area not a perfect circle, it would be stretched in what ever directions it bounces excessively, in addition to being a bigger circle.

True, tracers would be useless, but hollow-points would be nasty. Awesome page as always

Well, tracer rounds would be completely useless in an indoor, point-blank range setting, so it's good you left em out in the first place. :) 'course any chance of SILENTLY breaking into this place goes out the window with each BOOM... Great page!
