Stig Hemmer--X-Ponent is still a relatively new hero (and one the other heroes try to keep secret, for obvious reasons, as well as for other reasons yet to be revealed). As for the Crossoverkill link . . . Well, it seems the Duck will let me delete links, but all attempts to add a link get a Internal Server error. (So now the link is completely gone. Wonderful.)
Superhero comics have mixed messages about how supers are treated. Some are almost worshipped, some are chased as illegal vigilantes.
If I were a super in OUR world I would think more than twice before stepping out in the light.
On the other hand, of there were many of them, I am surprised NONE of them went public. I mean, if X-ponent had been active then, he surely would have sought out all the X-posure he could get.
hkmaly--Funny you mention that. In the sidebar on the last page of this interview, you'll see that Captain Stupendous was influenced by superhero comics when you see his old uniform.

Personally, I think real-live superheroes would study the popularity of superhero comics a lot :-).
