Dagon is a god from the Bible, although Lovecraft did use it in some of his stories. Lovecraft's story "Dagon," however, isn't considered part of the Cthulhu Mythos, but I think the god Dagon is mentioned in some of the Cthulhu tales. The Dagonese Whistler deals with are a species of creature. I suspect we may learn a bit more how they're tied into the history of Fusion's world next issue, but a lot of that history is likely outside the scope of this story arc.
