This happened to me one time, but it was in my fridge, not my freezer. And it wasn't frost, it was moldy food. And it wasn't worms, it was mutated zombie rats.
What I liked most were are wordsworth's (?) gritted teeth. Very early late 30's-50's heroic Hollywood filmstar! ^^
His sleavless parker's pretty 'cool' too.
I actually enjoyed this one, but the 3rd panel could've been done better. Dark, near black shadows and a bright glare in a few places would've fixed it up nicely.
I have never ever bought the "I do it for myself" excuse from you or anyone else. You care about what people think of it, and as such you are writing for them as well. I don't think you'd be so constantly defensive about your strip if you really did it just for you.
As to the other point, I'd forgotten that you'd used these characters before. Still, I think the fact that they're so seldom featured makes this strip feel very out of place.
But yeah, deaf ears.
I respect your opinions, Radari, but I write these for myself. And yes, sometimes my comics consist of nothing but quiet observation. If I try to write these to cater to others, then I'm projecting something that isn't me.
In this case, I thought it was quite obvious that Wormsworth and Hektor were just playing make believe, taking advantage of Gene's crappy refridgerator, which isn't frost-free. In my opinion, to go ahead and explain that would make things clunky and akwardly bad.
Dearest Randal -
This strip was decent. Good juxtaposition of expectations vs. reality, ha. BUT! While the juxtaposition is just, you have not provided an explanation as to why an earthworm and an ant were in Gene's freezer. Expectation vs. reality jokes are most effective when the expectation is a reasonable situation.
I'm not saying this isn't a reasonable situation given the context of your overall concept. I mean, you have quasi-anthromorphic animals living in an urban apartment that watch TV and get thrown in jail. But there's nothing here to explain it, so you lose something in the set-up of the gag.
If there is a reasonable explanation for this buried somewhere in your archives, please link and I will retract above statement.
AT ANY RATE! As to your response to yesterday's spiel, I'm not saying all of this because I didn't like the strip and just wanted to express why for my own selfish pleasure. It's a critique of the writing for you to consider beyond an "oh I guess he didn't like it" sort of dismissal. I do it because I love you.

I like it. Probably the best stuff I've seen from this strip. I really dig this guy's art. I said that before, I think. But, yeah, I mean it.

I think you're confusing my pathological need to have the last word as a defense of my comic.
