23 - George the Dragon: Erk!

This is an old one that I found lying around and decided to share with you. I'm afraid that 99% of people won't get it as I think my siblings and I were the only people to be obsessed with the commercial that this strip is based on. This is from an old Planter's Peanuts commercial. Some guys are walking through the woods eating peanuts. They see a beaver and one says, “Shouldn't we offer him some?” and the other guy replies scornfully, “No, Beavers don't like NUTS.” The camera then zooms in on the Beaver who goes “ERK!” and has a ticked off look on his face. The beaver then chops down a tree and steals the nuts.

This always had us in stitches and we would immitate the Beaver's “ERK!” over and over. So when I drew this my siblings cracked up, but most of the other people I've showed it to didn't get it.

So I offer it up to the masses and hope that it is appreciated. :)

There were a couple of different ones that were aired. In one the beaver carved the planter's guy in another he chopped down a tree. But yeah, you are correct. :)

I remeber the commercial as wwell but didn't the beaver make a wood carving of the planter's guy?
