And now you know a bit more about this society, Brad's job, and the ripple patterns created by a rifle when it is fired. I used a photoreference for the air displacement.
I don't know who the lady in the green jacket is, or if she will ever become important.

Yeah, distance matters, it'd still be unmistakable close up though, even within a few hundred meters, that sound would bounce of the walls... But it can hit a target far enough away, and it would be foolhardy to check out what made the sound.

For what ever reason whenever I look at your comic I can never think of anything to say about it but I really have just giving people a 5 without saying anything.

Fyrsiel: Guns still produce smoke and blow-back, although not nearly as much as the pistols or muskets or the old days. I used a fractional-second photograph of a hunting rifle being shot as a reference for the smoke and shock patterns produced during firing. Remember, bullets are still propelled (for the most part) by the rapid combustion of gun powder. And this kind of rifle would make a single, sharp retort, but they don't really care because who would hear that over the common noises of cars and the city? Or care? Or be dumb enough to investigate? Brad and Jeff are VERY far away from where the lady is, after all.

xO I was tipped off by the splurdge of blood that it was, in fact, the lady in the background who had been shot. (I feel so smart. xD;; ) o___o Ooooh. That is a kickass firearm, thar. I wonder, do many guns made these days give off smoke after being fired, still? @_@; Also, I'm not an expert on guns, but would that type of gun need a silencer? I am not sure. @_@; *gah, I wish I knew more about firearms. Dx*

My parents just left after a weekend-long visit, so there's a delay on new pages. The person who got shot IS the lady in the back of the second-to-last panel. I obscured her on purpose. Why? Because she's just someone in a courtyard to you, and that's all she needs to be. Pseudo-random violence. And thanks for the votes, but I'd rather get comments with no score than a score with no comments! . . . wait. . . that sounds kinda wrong. . .

Mm. Murder and coffee. It's whats for breakfast. I'm guessing his Gnoph provides some enhansement of his sharpshooting abilities...

Looks like a woman in the back of the fourth panel got shot in the back... either that or she's got a really really big, splatter shaped flower as a lapel pin...
JillyFoo at 10:42PM, May 31, 2006
huh...? did anyone get shot?

I like the ripple effect. Reminds me of the photo work of Harold Edgerton.
