Wowee! Two pages in one week. Not sure how that happened. Apparently, I have waaay too much time on my hands.
As a reader noted elsewhere, Regan is old. At the time–'38–she was sixty-seven. It is quite likely, however, that Cara, at nineteen, is the adult in the friendship.
Regan's father was a half-elf before being turned into a vampire. Her mom was a human with elf ancestry. So Regan is operating with a crazy mishmash of genetics. By the standards of elves and vampires, she's really young; by human, old. Sometimes, she even has trouble reconciling the various sides of herself. Especially with regard to maturity.
Since this story gets parceled out, one page at a time, and may get hard to follow, “Breas,” is the vampire she mentions kissing, the fateful kiss, back in Chapter One.
(Which reminds me: I need to figure out how to make an archive since I have a link for such a beastie. I have an archive and gallery at *cough*, the other site. I just have to figure out how to do it, here. Hmmm.)

RapidoBlue: Thanks ozoneocean: Yep, indeed with all kinds of bedlam brewing... Peipei: It was kinda fun to draw, even though I really didn't do sufficient research.

Tantz_Aerine: Nope, Cara probably wasn't trotoire...more like she sort of slid off the path of what was considered a proper lady when her acting career fizzled. "Prostitute" is probably not quite accurate, but it illustrates one of many weaknesses of this, my first novel. (Hence, why I stopped trying to market it, and moved on to other projects. It makes a decent enough template for a practice webcomic, though.)

Very interesting. She doesn't look like a prostitute unless she was not the 'trotoire' kind. Lovely page.
