Chapter 3 page 13

Have any of you noticed how most “if not all” creationists equate evolution as the antithesis of morality? don’t we have “morals” because of evolution, and natural selection? I can’t for the life of me figure out how they come to this reasoning. Can any of you lay this out in a way that I can understand?
Also, sorry about my silence for the last month or so; work has been really hectic lately. I do read and appreciate all of your comments even when I don’t reply.

"Debating creationists on the topic of evolution is rather like trying to play chess with a pigeon; it knocks the pieces over, craps on the board, and flies back to its‘ flock to claim victory." (Scott D. Weitzenhoffe) The bible is so full absurdities (the earth is 10,000 years old instead of 3.4 - 4 billion years), half truths (Adam was "human being" when DNA says women came first), and lies (the ark held EVERY animal but "forgets" about space needed to feed them) that it's impossible to ever have a real discussion about evolution. No matter how much science, experimental discovery (Darwin rest in peace), and logical understanding you have on the subject of evolution, creationist will stick to their believes and force to do the same. DarkMatter2525 said it best: "Bad ideals need special protections to propagate. Good ideas stand up to criticism." This why creationism is still alive and well when it should be dead and forgotten.

Love the page! Ah Evolution vs Creation debates... An interesting twist I've rarely seen used is this. If Evolution is true, then by necessity pretty much all of us evolved with a propensity towards believing in 'higher powers' (can't argue otherwise - all we are and do is via evolution). Of course, most see this as a God(s), but even non-believers tend to have 'mental contructs' (memes) where there is value, morals, ethics, etc., that are treated as 'higher' than our base existence might require. So, with Hard Evolution, it creates/evolves its own counter-argument, that is the belief in higher powers, and that those powers are involved in the creation process. Of course, that's just taking the Evolution side. I could take the Creation side and spin it differently, but only so much fun for one day!

I think the creationist types tend to have a simplistic view of evolution, like it's all about ruthless competition with no consideration for others. But, that's really not a good strategy for genes to perpetuate themselves over the long term, so genes which pursue that don't stay in the pool all that long anyway. Interestingly though, it's not really possible to be moral if you're only doing the right thing because God Says Do This Or Else. You're just a whipped dog.

I figured these angels mate like frogs. Maybe they secrete sex goo from their crotch? Like Jurassic park says: Life will find a way...

The Greeks figured out that you didn't need deities for morality. The thought that you do may go as far back as the Ancient Egyptians or at least to the Psalms.

They didn't have the right parts--yet. Those nefilim had to come from somewhere. Maybe that's one of Lucifer's incentives in his rebellion. You know I wouldn't be all big on serving this guy either.
