I agree with some things on this page and disagree with others. I picked up a Bible and learned what it said all by myself for years without a preacher, church, radio or TV evangelist, telling me what he claimed it said. The Bible really does say that Jesus, who is both God's Son and God Himself contained in a human form, died to take care of the sin penalty for the entire world. The Bible says that God demands death for sin - but He never said who's. God can't contradict Himself and His own laws therefore He found a loophole - if a perfectly righteous man without sin died, it would be a substitute for someone else who had sinned. But there were none like this found on earth. God could have sent one of his angels to die for mankind - but that would have been even more cruel to send a subordinate pawn, don't you think? So God Himself went and became what He calls "His Son." And so God died. It's right there in the Bible, both in the Old Testament and New.
As far as being "set for life" by being born again... You're right, that's not what the Bible teaches. The Apostle Paul taught in Philippians 3:12, "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me."
1st panel reminds me of the rural Minister asking the man who was very vocal in trying to remove him from his pulpit because of theological differences, to lead prayers at Church. The man thought a minute and prayed as follows, "Lord thank you for your bounty, Bless Oh Lord, Me, My Wife, Our Son John, His Wife, we four and no more. Amen"
