I think Sidewinder is a bit peeved.
Can ya tell?
Some supers really love their powers. Sidewinder is one of them.
If you couldn't tell, I, the cartoonist have spent a LOT of time analyzing how The Speed Force in DC comics' Flash works.
Flash is my favorite DC hero and superspeed is my favorite superpower.
I've had this little rant in my back pocket for YEARS. Honestly, the only reason Sidewinder is even in this comic was for this bit of Nerd Rage. I have had MANY an argument with fellow nerds who claim that The Flash “just runs fast” and that he is a ‘lesser hero’ because he's not super strong.
Point of fact, Flash IS superstrong. Maybe not “knock over a skyscraper with one punch” superstrong, but he is canonically beyond “peak human”.
I take that to mean “Stronger than Captain America, but not as strong as Thor”. I place him somewhere in the ‘between Luke Cage and Spider-Man’ area of superstrength.
If I remember my old Marvel trading cards from the 90's Luke can bench about 3 tons and Spidey tops out at 10. Things may have changed since then.
I am loath to be one of those “Because Science” types. Particularly when it comes to science FICTION, but it stands to reason that one would have to be very very VERY strong just to LIVE through having superspeed.
Mind you, Sidewinder does not have the “Speed Force”, but aside from the whole ‘semi-sentient mystical force’ angle, his powers still work the same way.
Now that I've delivered the verbal nd physical smackdown that speed-haters deserve, what am I gonna do with Sidewinder?!
Kidding.
Anyway, speaking of odd superpowers, a lesser man who didn't have a superpowered respiratory system including the mouth-area, would have still probably died from the superspeed and yes, super-strong beating that BattleCry just took.
And yes, he does more than “scream and spit”.
