this page is notable for exactly one thing : this was the first page where i used pens of varying width. i wanted to get the detail on kyo's face in the last panel, but my usual inking pen was too thick to do it without losing the face i wanted. i didn't go back to this for years, but i did try it here.
also, my basic idea of mental hospitals comes from two fairly biased sources. one being books on them from the 70s, which isn't accurate at all. the other is an old friend i had who was commited for a while while he was a teen. from his basic summary, it was the most boring place on earth. hence juu's repetition of ‘routine, routine, routine.’

Fairly accurate, actually. I was there as a teen, as well. I've been back, since. It's actually not too hard to smuggle shit in there. I got a knife in my first stay. About the only thing different here is that Juu's in with the adults. Most places keep a strict separation, but hey, 1,000 years later, and on another world? Maybe they've learned something better.
