In Hapkido it goes:
White
Yellow
Orange
Green
Purple
Blue
Red
2nd Red
Brown
2nd Brown
Black
Then there are several different levels of Black belts. Purple isn't that high but it is high enough for a person to know what they're doing and be pretty good at it. That and the instructor at the place I go to makes sure you know EVERYTHING you are supposed to learn at each belt level and is very thorough.
no seriously, there were no belt ranks in Akido. and the belt i got with my gi(is that how it's spelled?) was black...i quit after a couple of months because it was pretty pointless.
