And stuff happens and tension builds. All the externals are blue screened. The same four inch size model of the alien watermelon was used for all the scenes with the doorway and the like all Photoshopped in and around the posed figures.
Calloway's expression is not a molded head sculpt but digital painting and manipulation of the photographic image.
