coffee is a luxury good btw. that's not something the average citizen can afford. agent privilege.

most goods that need to cross a border, or even a whole continent, are expensive as hell. that includes chocolate, tea (meaning real tea, herbal tea is fairly cheap), tropical fruits like bananas or kiwis, fresh marine fish (canned fish is cheaper, but if it needs to be cooled for transport, it's nigh unaffordable), and so on. even rice is expensive, it doesn't grow in Allemannea's climate. you can get bread, potatoes, beans, anything that can be stored like flour is relatively cheap. sugar and baked goods are mid tier, only somewhat expensive. even milk/cheese and eggs are affordable.

meat is on the expensive end, mostly chicken and pork. cows are too precious for milk production, not much steak on the average menu.
