I think they're not typical military planes - but that's just my thought on it for the moment. Max also mows lawns for a living, among other similar things. Maybe he just doesn't know about military aircraft, and doesn't look into that stuff even as a side interest... (but I think these are unusual planes is really the answer!)
Always good to find foliage to use as cover against arial surveillance. Then again, they're in deep woods now!
Of course, this does help set up how Minnie was living in Max's world without constantly being harassed by a variety of agencies... Hmmm?
