I should be clear, the Wicked Winkie Wizard is not claiming any responsibility for what's happening in this Oz, but into his and Ozma's Oz.

I don't remember how I came up with the name “Motch”, but it definitely was inspired a bit by names I can remember seeing in media Baum created for evil witches. Most prominent is Mombi, who is often called the Wicked Witch of the North, but I know there's also the name Momba, who was either the Wicked Witch of the East or West in one of the film adaptations (I forget which, and don't want to go looking right now). In my mind, this could mean every evil witch has a “Momb(vowel)” name. Luckily, there aren't many of them in Oz, so it can still work. But anyways, the “Mo” in the name comes from that.
